Same here, which is a shame, because I have invested a lot of money here and I don't know if there is a good alternative to dnd beyond regarding digital character sheets
Myth-Weavers has had digital character sheets forever. It lacks the bells and whistles of Beyond like linking to your book collection, but it does automate some things, and it's free.
OT: While I personally haven't used the piecemeal options I know several people who have (e.g. I have one friend who wasn't interested in anything from Spelljammer except the races.) I'm hoping that option stays in DDB going forward.
I have now filed a chargeback with my bank. I had hoped to be able to resolve this without involving third parties, but it's been made clear that WotC and DDB are not acting in good faith. The sheer amount of disinformation we've been provided speaks to that.
I am also going to be typing up a brief summary of everything that has transpired. I'll include some screengrabs from this forum - including a few astute comments that are not currently visible here - and will post it to social media. I have a nonzero number of contacts in TTRPG communities on social media, including at least a few journalists. (Such people are surely already aware of what's occurring here though, so I don't delude myself into being some sort of scoop-breaker, lol.) Also, thank you for the link, @Brinret!
UPDATE: Oof. My bank has just informed me that a chargeback can only be filed on a per-transaction basis, not a per-item basis if there were multiple items on the same transaction. (I did provide my bank with a copy of the invoice, showing that this item was one of three items I purchased on the same order, along with Planescape and Tal’Dorei—and I stressed to them that I am not unhappy with the other two.)
I’m told them that I’m desiring to chargeback $25.49, because that’s all I paid for this product—but because DDB and WotC won’t work with me, I’m being forced to charge back the entire transaction. That’s a chargeback of $94.97, all because DDB and WotC couldn’t be bothered to respond to queries in a timely manner.
UPDATE ON THIS:
My bank did whatever investigation they do on their end to verify the veracity of my claims, and have now credited the whole $94.97 back to my account. (Again, I do stress that I told them I only wished to dispute $25.49–and even provided them a copy of the invoice showing three books on one transaction with the individual price breakdown for each—but the bank said they could only process the chargeback on a per-transaction basis.)
I informed my bank that the reason for the chargeback was that the item in question is not usable to the extent that consumers had cause to reasonably expect; that the lack of support was not communicated until after many people had already paid; that I’d inquired multiple times regarding how to proceed with cancelling the order for just this one book (rather than needing to charge back the entire transaction), but my queries were not answered; and that others (not myself) had been provided with misinformation in responses received regarding this particular product.
It seems my bank’s investigations have concluded that all these statements were accurate, so they refunded the transaction. I still wish I hadn’t had to resort to such drastic steps, but I do feel a bit vindicated.
EDIT/CORRECTION: I just received a letter stating that the credit was a "provisional credit while...we continue our investigation." That is to say, the investigation has not concluded yet, just that it's apparently reached a point where they're confident enough in the veracity of my claims to issue a provisional credit.
I am now on my third day of not being able to access the promised early access content. Meanwhile we continue to have a timer counting down on the store to entice people to buy the digital + physical bundle in order to gain access to the early access content that WotC is fully aware they will not gain access to after their order due to this issue. I have opened my single support ticket as instructed two days ago and the only response I have received as an automated message thanking me for my patience. With no other resolution in sight I have submitted a complain to the Better Business Bureau about the non-delivery of the promised service and the continued false advertising about the ability to get early access by purchasing the physical + digital bundle.
If you would like to submit your own BBB complaint against WotC you can do so at THIS LINK
In the mean time I hope WotC corrects this issue and/or ceases advertising early access while not able to provide it.
Just in the interest of full and fair reporting of events, I got a "response" from the BBB today, stating that WotC had been served my complaint "on multiple occasions" and had not responded, and because WotC ignored it the BBB was closing the case on the grounds there was nothing they could do. They understandably cannot force a business to respond.
So, uh, yeah. The customer service here is absolutely in the shitter.
Two updates, I suppose. The first is an indication of an actual delivery date. The second, is after attempting a cancelation of the order. Apparently, a little over a month (from my order) they are still experiencing "very high volume of contacts" and well, it does in fact appear we as customers are being given the run around. I am officially not ordering any physical products from WotC ever again as I stated in the cancelation request.

It appears the individual options are not working for this book, despite the site displaying that the backgrounds are available for purchase individually (on the right-hand side) when searching.
Extremely disappointed at not being able to purchase individual items. Guess I'll just have to homebrew everything after reading a friend's copy. I guess I'm saving money?
In the interest of full and fair reporting, I just wanted to note that as of today - nearly two months after the issue was first raised - I noticed that this book (along with Planescape and Tal'dorei) are no longer showing that I own them. ETA: I can confirm that the access was removed at some point between December 2 and now.
I am aware that this book was "released" to me in the middle of last month despite my saying I no longer wanted it - but I never read it, never downloaded it to the mobile app, and never used any of the character options in it.
I do wish I hadn't had to file a chargeback to get this accomplished, but at least it's sorted now. I'll rebuy Planescape and Tal'dorei at such time as I have need of them (since, as I stated, I never had any complaints regarding those that were severe enough that I'd've wanted to charge them back, and I only charged them back at all because they were purchased on the same transaction as BoMT and my bank was not able to process a chargeback on any basis other than a per-transaction basis). I may hold off on the repurchase until such time as DDB stops their false advertising, however; as just one example of ongoing false advertising, DDB is still advertising that individual purchase options are available for this book and others, despite those not being available (which is more than simply annoying, but in fact is potentially illegal). This issue was officially acknowledged as having been "flagged with the team" weeks ago, but has not yet been corrected. It would seem as simple as changing a bit of text (as there aren't any tooltips, links, or other "mechanical" bits within the text), so presumably would require 30 seconds or less to change - which suggests the decision to not change it may be a conscious one (ie. that it is not merely an error).

Edit: Nevermind, I see that it seems that's just how it's gonna be. Whelp RIP D&D Beyond lol.
