RELEASE NOTES
In The Book of Many Things, introduce more magical whimsy by diving deeper than ever before into the lore behind the beloved magic item, the Deck of Many Things. How did it come to be? What is the significance of one baneful figure depicted in the cards? The answers you seek – and more – are contained within.
Syncing Entitlements
If you don’t see any of the content from the book (preorder bonuses or otherwise), please be sure to resync your entitlements. You can do so by following these steps:
Once completed, your content should appear! If you experience any issues with accessing your content please reach out to our Support Team.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: BACKGROUNDS
The Rewarded and Ruined backgrounds both feature "a gaming set (matching your chosen proficiency)", we can't currently control this choice so we will leave it to you to pick responsibly.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: FEATS
Feats and Feat Options
Cartomancer
The Cartomancer feat prerequisite requires you to have a "Spellcasting Feature", which our system is not able to enforce.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: MAGIC ITEMS
Actions on Magic Items. Many new magic items grant specific actions as part of their magic. D&D Beyond does not currently support the ability to attach actions directly to magic items; we have included charges and associated spells where appropriate, but in the case that an item’ functionality is otherwise text-only, we recommend creating Custom Actions on the character sheet to represent those items.
Armor of Weightlessness. This item is currently unable to allow its spells to be cast as a bonus action.
Bloodrage Greataxe. We cannot currently designate an item's bonus from the hp state of a character.
Bow of Melodies. The Bow of Melodies is complex, We can't currently swap bonuses dependent on the proficiencies of a character, nor increase its damage by an additional modifier.
This book introduces a number of new and magical decks - both building on the original Deck of Many Things as well as adding new types of decks that you can pull from. While each of the decks are available in the compendium and can be added to your character sheet, the individual effects of each card is not supported.
SUPERNATURAL GIFTS
There are a number of Supernatural Gifts presented throughout The Book of Many Things. These charms and blessings are not supported on the character sheet.
Same issue and question. My order still shows as processing for the payment and I have the button for unlocking the activation key. But all that does it take me to the instructions page with no key.
Same issue here. I even preorded a second copy cause that's their recommended thing on the Support FAQ if an order is in processing for more than 4 hrs. My original order was sitting like this for a week. Still no code ... never had this issue before.
I reached out yesterday regarding my first order, and the only response I've gotten in 24 hrs is an automated email saying they are getting a lot of support orders and that support will be slow. Hence why I tried the only actual advice I received on the FAQ which is:
"Why does the page keep telling me my purchase is pending?"
"While usually immediate, your order can sometimes take up to 4 hours to be processed. Beyond 4 hours, please try making the purchase a second time."
Now I'm double screwed lol. Imma drop an update on my support thread, but unless they can cancel a second one I guess somebody in my group is getting a gift.
the digital version of the book does not contain “the accompanying The reference book” that tells you what the cards mean, to use it for encounter building and the new extra uses for the deck…kinda makes the digital version useless, and with the physical version delayed its even more important to have this asset…not to mention I would like to have a digital version of it, so I can always find it and look things up quickly.
“ WHAT DO THE CARDS MEAN: The "Card Sparks" and "Journey Spread" sections ask you to interpret cards based on their assigned meaning. The reference book that accompanies The Deck of Many Things describes meanings for those cards, and the Curse of Strahd adventure summarizes the meanings of tarokka cards. Various books and websites explain the meanings of tarot cards.’”
it would be nice to have a digital version of the cards also and some sort of randomizer, but I realize that would take assets but the reference book should be included. Otherwise, this book digital copy usability is severely hampered, it’s like a map with no legend.
am I wrong? Is it included somewhere? And I’m just missing it?
I coincidentally ordered my first copy about the same time they were about to release the delay news. My guess is the got things screwed up when implementing the delay. I would also guess that people who ordered well in advance don't have this issue.
I have ordered almost all the books through the DND Store since the EA bundle implementation and never had this issue. My order on Planescape went off without a hitch for example. If we had ordered them as they were announced things probably would be fine ... but I tend to wait ... well to avoid issues like this lol.
RIP Bozo (me)
If it's of any conciliation the physical delay alone is costing them millions so they aren't doing well either. This delay fiasco is affecting everyone.
When I click the link it shows the table of contents but all links in the ToC bring me to the marketplace telling me to purchase the product (I already have..). Seems inaccessible at the moment despite early access being unlocked.
Edit: Ah, for some reason pre-ordering just the digital doesn't give early access.
I'm having the same issue with this as I had with the Planescape release:
I pre-ordered digital-only, so I don't have access yet. That, by itself, is find and expected.
However, because I have already paid for the book, the site recognizes that and will not let me pay again for my own use - yet the site keeps showing me the backgrounds, etc. and trying to get me to pay for them piecemeal.
I expressed this the last time and I I still feel it's true: This probably should not be happening. Users should probably not be being shown content and told they can pay for it, when in fact they have already paid for it (and simply do not yet have access).
That said, at this point I am curious: What would happen if I were to pay for the content piecemeal, as the site is offering me? Usually, if you buy piecemeal content and then you later buy the full source, you get a discount on the latter purchase (because in effect you've already paid for some of it). But in this case I've already paid full price for the full source - so what would happen if I were to also pay for the backgrounds separately as the site is encouraging me to? Would I get a partial refund when the full book unlocks on November 14 (since at that point I'd have effectively paid for the same content twice, and there's precedent that doing that results in a discount on the second purchase)?
I'm not actually going to test this, because I don't have the disposable income to do so - but I'd bet there's a nonzero chance someone could do it on accident or without full understanding of what they were doing, the way the site is advertising the piecemeal backgrounds, etc. to those who have already paid for them. Given this, I figure there must be a protocol in place for this, so I'd be curious to know what it is.
Actually, further to my last post, is there a way to cancel my preorder?
I just read GPryomania's post, and I see that there are A LOT of things in this book that aren't supported by the site. The only reason I buy digital books on this site is that the direct integration of items, character options, etc. makes character creation easy to manage. If a large portion of items and options in this book are not going to be supported, that torpedos the entire reason I had for buying the book in the first place - and I would not have pre-ordered in the first place if I this had been communicated in advance.
Given that circumstance - and that I do not yet have access to the book anyway (so this is not a situation of me getting access, reading the book, and then deciding I don't want it), I would like to simply cancel my pre-purchase.
This is probably an asinine question, but how does one even do that?
I've never had to open a ticket before, and I don't see any instructions in the staffs' comments for doing it. (I could just be oblivious, I guess; just because I don't see it doesn't mean it's not there - but I sure don't see it.)
ETA: To complicate things further, because I bought digital-only, I bought directly from the DDB marketplace. I did not buy from the official D&D webstore linked in GPryonmania's topline post. As such, I'm not even sure I can file a ticket in the same manner as others in this thread! (Though, honestly, I have no idea how it works; would welcome any instructions on how to go about at least attempting to file a ticket!)

I click unlock key and the page has no key code. I can see the red button to unlock the key, but when I click the link to the page has no key code.
I am having this same issue
Same problem. Despite pre-ordering the bundle, the button to unlock the activation key is just not there.
EDIT: yeah turns out paypal hasn't been billed for the pre-order yet. I had to manually activate the billing on the dndstore and now it works.
What does "Manually activate the billing on the dndstore" entail?
yea, what does manually activate billing i didn't use PayPal and still no key on the link.
Same issue and question. My order still shows as processing for the payment and I have the button for unlocking the activation key. But all that does it take me to the instructions page with no key.
I too am having the issue of seeing the instructions to activate my key, but I do not have a code provided.

Do you mind explaining what you did since it seems like you got through?
I tried reaching out to Wizards of the Coast support directly since it seems to be an issue on their end. Anyone have any luck getting access?

Yeah I got the email and I ordered under a guest account on their website. It said the order was made so I'm not sure what the issue is.
