Heated Body. A creature that touches the salamander or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 7 (2d6) fire damage.
Heated Weapons. Any metal melee weapon the salamander wields deals an extra 3 (1d6) fire damage on a hit (included in the attack).
Multiattack. The salamander makes two attacks: one with its spear and one with its tail.
Spear. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20 ft./60 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage, or 13 (2d8 + 4) piercing damage if used with two hands to make a melee attack, plus 3 (1d6) fire damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 7 (2d6) fire damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, the salamander can automatically hit the target with its tail, and the salamander can’t make tail attacks against other targets.
Salamanders are so hot right now.
The fruit seller from St Bilge has a young frost salamander, which he has tamed, after his cart was robbed, he had no other source of income to support his family, so he has joined the circus and needs to put together a show with the salamander. He will send money home to his family. The money lender he owes has goons in each major town who will vouch for the money that will be sent back.
Eh ??
That's hot
Do you think 312,782 would be good for my party of 8 level 12s
300k salamanders?
yeah seems balanced to me
Our partys DM made us fight a salamander at level 4. Our 21 AC and 39 hitpoint paladin was Down To 4 hitpoints after it’s first turn. Then I came in as a totem Warrior barbarian and used great weaponmaster to chip away at it’s health. Then My silver dragon wyrmling came in and finished it off with a 46 damage breath weapon.
I tamed one of these and now its a pet for the party
With an INT of 11, i'd say its a slave, not a pet ;)
lore appropriate to be sure, but do your best not to piss it off too much.
ALSO: What a shitty ranged option for this thing. He throws his spear once? and then has to either make unarmed strikes or go get his spear? that's wild to me. Let him throw fire or something. geez. no wonder the broom of flying is maybe the most broken uncommon item.
The mention of them hatching as fire snakes should probably be a link, like the mention of fire snakes maturing to salamanders is on their page.
I have a soft Spot for Salamanders after what happened in a campaign.
-Be Me
-Half-Elf Bard (College of Valor) “Faen Amastacia”
-19 years old with a Magic Electric Rapier in an Apocalypse setting
-Running Away with party from a hoard of demons in the under dark
-See a Salamander trapped and drowning in a Water Bubble made by the overpowered Sorcerer/Wizard NPC Ally
-Strange idea pops into my Head
-“Negotiation Time”
-Walk up to it
-“If you agree to be my Familiar I will tell me friend to spare your life”
-Roll Persuasion
-Sucessful Roll
-It agrees, and I tell NPC to release him
-Welcome to the Team Ivellios the Salamander
-I’d go to the ends of the Earth for this dude
-Learn Ignan Just to Understand his language
-Campaign eventually had to end early, but Canonically helps my Character kill an Eldritch Deity and stop the apocalypse.
-Also eventually becomes an Red Dragon by DM’s roll for his heritage
[For the Record my Final Class if you were Wondering was LV20 Bard (College of Valor)/Level 20 Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline (Bronze)) cause this campaign went to Level 40]
lolool coooooooooooool
Is the heated weapons rule factored into the spear damage shown?
as it says "included in the attack" right in the text for heated weapon, I would say yes
