Invisibility. The stalker is invisible.
Faultless Tracker. The stalker is given a quarry by its summoner. The stalker knows the direction and distance to its quarry as long as the two of them are on the same plane of existence. The stalker also knows the location of its summoner.
Actions
Multiattack. The stalker makes two slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) bludgeoning damage.
Nice to scout
Sounds like as soon as you summon it it would kill you
it stays at its summoner’s side until it is given a task to perform.
It doesn't do too much damage, as long as you know where it is.
I have dated a few of these in the past. Scary.
I would like to know whether these creatures have substance. In the MM it says that they are air elementals so could someone pass through them or bull rush through them ? I only ask because four of these things smashed my party up real good recently. These things are nasty.
They certainly are. If you anticipate encountering them, definitely prepare faerie fire if you can.
Generally speaking, if it’s tough enough to hit you, it’s tough enough that you can’t get through it. Indeed, it lacks the “Amorphous Form” trait of the generic air elemental, implying that it’s form is even more defined and organized than they are.
So, although it is ultimately up to GM discretion, it seems reasonable that you could shove it back.
Could I say...
Me: "Hey Mr. Invisible Stalker, I wanna know where the evil king is."
Stalker: "He is hiding in his top secret base that nobody knows about at coordinates x, y, and z..."
Me: "Alrighty let's go"
I have gained on in a bag of holding. I named him Simon.
wait, he's right behind U!
I have a party of third levels against this. A cleric, a paladin and two rangers. We'll see how it goes.
Can an invisible stalker (or any elemental) be infused with/possess a weapon? I’m thinking a rogue with a invisible stalker dagger would be pretty OP.
That'd be fairly nasty, though I don't know how that would help. Would it give you more damage per hit?
Anyone know how Opportunity Attacks work against this? Same as usual, except with disadvantage?
The way I'd rule it, if you can see it leave your range, through something like blindsight or faerie fire, then you can take an opportunity attack.
Thanks! No attacks of opportunity in the end. But I did decide that they would hear it move away and have disadvantage.
Only if you understand Auran
I thought that as well but they hover, so I would say they don't know. The best option would be to bait it with a party member and attack once you know where it could be.
If you summon an invisible stalker, can it be used to guard you while you rest, or is it specifically for fetch/kill tasks? I know some of the descriptions describe the stalker "perverting the summoner's instructions" if the task is a long one as it is an "unwilling servant at best."
Or, if you guys have any examples of how an invisible stalker's instructions were perverted? That might be useful. Thanks :)
PHB: You can make an opportunity attack when a hostile creature that you can see moves out of your reach. You cannot make opportunity attacks against invisible creatures unless you can see invisibility.
